Google and everyone else will give you many reasons of why you should go to Kyoto. Those are probably all right, but we have a few more things to add to the list.

Why should you photograph in Kyoto?

• There’s no other city in Japan where you enjoy traditional architecture on such a scale, while still in a large urban area. Nothing beats that contrast.

• It’s not exactly a museum though. Centuries-old buildings are well maintained and house all kinds of businesses, both new and old. From a craft-knife maker holding a 300-year-old family business to fashion brands bringing the big city flavor to Kyoto, it’s a constant discovery process.

• Nature resisted urban development better than most of the country’s big cities. Especially during Autumn, Kyoto gets painted with reds and oranges everywhere you go.
